| The
Care of Wine |
Barca Wines are given a period of bottle aging at the
winery to improve their flavor and bouquet. Further aging in your own
cellar is recommended to continue this bottle ripening and to allow
your wines to adjust themselves to their new environment. Another
advantage in home storage is that it makes buying wines in case lots
more reasonable, thus effecting a saving in cost.Wine bottles are stored on their sides to keep the corks moist and air tight. The storage place may be a cellar, a closet, a cabinet or a simple wine rack in some corner. It should be dark and cool with some ventilation. Avoid furnaces and places exposed to market variations in temperature. The selection of wine should be largely a matter of individual preference. No hard and fast rule for serving wine will please everyone, but the following suggestions may be helpful. White and Rose wines should be chilled moderately before serving (about 45 degrees F). Red wines are best when served at room temperature (about 70 degrees F). Wine should compliment your food, (Fine Food & Barca Wine Suggestions) hence white wines are usually more agreeable with seafood and light meats, and red wines with meats, cheese dishes, pasta and highly seasoned foods. If more than one wine is used, serve white before red, dry before sweet and light bodied before full bodied. Drink the wines you enjoy - enjoy the wines you drink. |
